Going Home

The day has come that we have to go back home. It has been an amazing trip. We've packed so much in to a 2 week time period but it still went by so quickly. We take some pictures in the hotel lobby with our cousin Hiro, who has come to see us off.

Live TV on the cell phone.

We take a bus to the Narita Airport and are there in plenty of time to board our plane. Miles and I are seated on the other side of the plane from Mom, Dad and Jeff.

It is about a 16 hour flight to San Francisco. I think we fly through the night but it never gets dark so we didn't sleep on the plane. We were served a couple of meals and a couple of movies.

I find out later that Mom's foot was hit by a luggage carrier while boarding the plane. The flight attendant gives her some aspirin and the foot swells up pretty badly. We have to get a wheelchair to take Mom off the plane. We are sorry to leave them in San Francisco like that, but Miles and I part with them after we go through customs to catch our plane to Dallas. An unfortunate accident but we are glad it didn't happen on the way to Japan. Once at home Mom can hopefully stay off her feet to recover.

We have a 2 hour layover in San Francisco so Miles was able to catch a nap. It was really hard for him to wake up and walk on to the plane.

We make it to Dallas as scheduled and David is there to pick us up. Through some planning Miles and I were able to travel with just one rolling suitcase and one box of souvenirs plus a carry on bag.

It has been a fantastic journey and a trip we will always remember.
